Inmarsat Fleet 55.
Whatever your needs, Inmarsat Fleet 55 offers a single, integrated communica-tions solution that delivers versatility and choice to ensure that you and your vessel are no longer isolated while at sea. Inmarsat Fleet 77.
The Inmarsat Fleet 77 system is one of the most advanced satellite telecom services dedicated to the maritime industry. It was developed so that, on the one hand it would take full advantage of the existing satellite telecommunications infrastructure as well as any new technological developments and on the other hand, to cover all the specialised requirements of modern maritime industry.
It combines every service currently offered from the existing telecom networks, together with new enhanced services as dictated by the contemporary business environment. Thus, it offers the traditional forms of telecommunications such as voice, fax and e-mail, with the most up to date services such as transmission of electronic video and audio files at high speeds (128 or 64 kbps). Furthermore, the system possesses unique characteristics, such as the capabilities to be "on-line" with the IP network on a 24/7 basis, on a volume-based charge, subject to usage.
Inmarsat Fleet 77 is fully compliant with the most updated specifications of the International Maritime Organisation (IMO) for new systems introduced to the international safety and distress system (GMDSS), providing prioritisation and pre-emption.
The system allocates global coverage and provides : Speech 128 or 64 kbps ■ Voice 4.8 kbps (Inmarsat Mini-M quality) ■ Data transfer 128 or 64 kbps (UDI) ■ Data transfer 56 kbps (V110) ■ High quality audio at 3.1 kHz (ISDN) ■ Mobile Packet Data Service (MPDS) ■ Fax 2.4 kbps or 9.6 kbps or 64 kbps (fax G4).

BGAN
Inmarsat’s Broadband Global Area Network (BGAN) is the world’s first mobile communications service to provide both voice and broadband data simultaneously through a single, truly portable device on a global basis. It is also the first to offer guaranteed data rates on demand.
In a standard office environment, broadband access is now taken for granted. But for those whose jobs take them away to more remote locations, accessing the corporate network or the internet often means a return to slow dial-up connections, or worse still, no access at all. With Inmarsat’s BGAN service, you can set up a broadband mobile office in minutes – wherever you are on the planet.
With a single BGAN device, you can access data applications at speeds up to half a megabit and make a phone call at the same time.
Phone : Make phone calls at the same time as accessing your data applications.
Standard IP :: For e-mail, internet and intranet access via a secure VPN connection, at speeds up to 492kbps over a shared channel.
Streaming IP: Guaranteed data rates on demand up to 256kbps.
SMS : Send and receive text messages via your laptop – up to 160 characters – to or from any mobile phone.
ISDN : BGAN also supports ISDN at 64 kbps depending on BGAN terminal type.
Fax : Fax services supporting via 3.1 kHz channel depending on BGAN terminal type.
